  16. DONT run c2unconv if you have a large password file. it will die in
  17. the middle and leave you with a few hours work to recover from it.
  18. I have sent something about this to SUN in Sydney about a year
  19. (at least) ago, and have heard nothing back. If you need to use
  20. something like c2unconv, have a look at the script, and where it
  21. recreates the passwd file, change the single sed into a list of
  22. seds executed in a loop so that the command line is not too long.

  24. The Audit part:
  25. unless you have heaps of disc, dont turn on read auditing. This
  26. will write an audit record for read and stat! (think about all
  27. those records created when you do an ls -l!).

  29. I have actually turned off the audit daemon and am using it
  30. purely for the shadow password file stuff, and that seems to be
  31. working ok.
